I am more like the glue gun lately... I wanted to learn new things in stop motion and at the same time lately I've been struggling with getting things done, I noticed I tend to put my problems in videos, just like writing your problems down on a piece of paper then forgetting all about them, making a stop motion video helps me I guess but it just takes months longer haha... I've been stuck for months doing really boring not so creative jobs to make ends meet and it has been weighing me down, hopefully I get out of this non creative hole soon..
I made this Desktop factory in collaboration with Doro, we worked on it when I was in Hamburg and released it in bits first on instagram (the foodie parts) to confuse people a bit. Doro also collects things that people throw away (on the street, or washed up by the river) and we started tinkering with these till we came up with an idea.
I thought I'd try something new this time, I have lots of plastic and metal bits and pieces, all things that were about to be thrown away that I saved. I love automatas and thought I'd try making one! thought I'd choose something simple... so of course I go and make a creature with articulating wings! I had much more impressive movements in my head but for now he will only attempt to fly!
I used things like broken plug converter for the head, feathers are made from old foam packing material, a sock and some scrap fabric, vest is weaved from stripes from a matchbox, pen parts and glue bottle caps for the legs, the halo is a washer I picked off the ground one day.
Thanks to Alexis Noriega for sharing her wings tutorial! I used it as reference, she does spectacular work! Check her channel out:
